Laura Martin

Martin, 75, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

Born in Queens, New York, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Albina (Ruthowska) Martin.

Laura was a wise, dedicated Registered Nurse, whose career spread over more than forty years.

She worked in several hospitals both in Rhode Island and, earlier, in New York.

Laura was devoted to her patients and her craft.

Laura also assiduously cared for a succession of rescue greyhounds (Lucy, Ricky, Crystal and Jenna), all of whom brought great joy and fulfillment - along with their respective tomfoolery - to her life, and she unfailingly reciprocated.

Sadly, Jenna predeceased Laura by one day.

Laura is survived by a nephew, Keith Michaels; and Laura's faithful cousins, Jim (Debbie) and Janet Ruthowski and Carol Messier.

In addition, she leaves behind a coterie of staunch friends, Bob and Debbie Bessette, Bill Connelly, John Gagnon, Ian Jacobson, Ed and Sally Janowski, Mary Laquale, and Dennis and Mary Ruszala.

She was the sister of the late Mary Michaels and stepsister of the late Larry Martin, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend committal prayers on Tuesday, May 27th, at 9:00 a.m. in the chapel at Mount St.

Mary Cemetery, Prospect St., Pawtucket.

Visitation and floral tributes are respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to any branch of Greyhound Pets of America/Massachusetts.
