Swansea, MA – Judith A. (Gawlik) McCormick, 82, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Frederick B. McCormick for sixty-five loving years; having been sweethearts since high school. Fred was the proprietor of the former Fred’s Barber Shop in South Attleboro for over fifty years and was actively involved with the South Attleboro Lions Club. Judy was born in Attleboro and was a daughter of the late Henry and Madeline (Mallon) Gawlik.
Judy worked for many years as a switchboard operator at Wheaton College in Norton. Later in life Judy attended Quincy College and received her LPN license. She and her husband had a passion for traveling, especially cruising, with over 35 trips on the sea. Judy adored anything to do with the beach, seashells, birds, dogs, and light houses. She enjoyed camping and RVing throughout the country. Judy was always known to put her family first and she loved spending quality time with them, whether it be on vacation or in her home. She especially loved visits with her grandchildren. There was never a stranger that Judy would not stop to converse with.
Besides her loving husband, Judy leaves two daughters, Colleen J. Capelo and her husband, Michael, of Holly Ridge, NC, and Joy A. Medina and her husband, Stephen, of Swansea, MA; four grandchildren, Katelyn Amaral, Jason Turner, Alexus Amaral and Kyla Medina; a great-grandson, Joshua Turner; three step-grandchildren, Cody, Kayla and Maddison; a sister, Carol Seney and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, August 26th at 11 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. VISITATION will be held on Monday, August 25th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to South Attleboro Lions Club, P.O. Box 3254, South Attleboro, MA 02703 would be appreciated.
