Joseph J. Mcdevitt, Sr.

Pawtucket – Joseph “Papa Joe” J.

McDevitt, Sr., 74, passed away peacefully in the arms of his beloved companion on Sunday, March 6, 2022.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late James J. and Catherine A. (Walsh) McDevitt.

Joe worked for the Pawtucket Housing Authority as the maintenance supervisor for thirty-five years prior to retiring in 2000.

He was a member of the AMVETS Post 33 and Society Jacques Cartier, both of Pawtucket.

Joe loved to dance in his early days and was a fan of the doo-wop culture era.

He was an avid pool player who loved playing cards, riding his motorcycle, singing karaoke and spending time at the former Bullseye bar with family and friends.

A first-class jokester, Joe had a gregarious personality and would take the shirt off his back for anyone in need.

His beautiful presence and infectious smile will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

He is survived by his beloved companion and caretaker, Rosalie Levasseur of Pawtucket; six children, Joseph A.

McDevitt of Pawtucket, Kerri Bessette of Central Falls, Patrick McDevitt and his wife, Melissa, of Coventry, Tammy L.

Bolarinho of Pawtucket, Thomas McDevitt and his wife, JoAnn, of Maryland and Joseph J.

McDevitt, Jr. of Massachusetts; a sister, Grace Auriemma of West Warwick; his beloved felines, Tabitha and Prince, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Kathy McDevitt, John McDevitt, James F.

McDevitt and Dolores Vinacco.

His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St.

Mary Church, 103 Pine St., Pawtucket.

Interment will follow at Mt.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
