Pawtucket – Joseph “Papa Joe” J. McDevitt, Sr., 74, passed away peacefully in the arms of his beloved companion on Sunday, March 6, 2022. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late James J. and Catherine A. (Walsh) McDevitt. Joe worked for the Pawtucket Housing Authority as the maintenance supervisor for thirty-five years prior to retiring in 2000. He was a member of the AMVETS Post 33 and Society Jacques Cartier, both of Pawtucket. Joe loved to dance in his early days and was a fan of the doo-wop culture era. He was an avid pool player who loved playing cards, riding his motorcycle, singing karaoke and spending time at the former Bullseye bar with family and friends. A first-class jokester, Joe had a gregarious personality and would take the shirt off his back for anyone in need.
