Pawtucket – Joseph P.
Braganca, 85, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015.
He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia R. (Richard) Braganca.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Antonio and Ascencao (Tavares) Braganca.
Joe was a machinist known as “Sam” at the Washburn Wire Company until purchasing Smith Machine, Pawtucket and later retiring from the Pawtucket School Department.
He was very involved in baseball his entire life and had played four years with the New York Yankees Farm System.
He always made himself available to help children interested in baseball, and was a Little League and Babe Ruth Coach throughout Rhode Island for many years.
He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed restoring religious figurines.
He leaves six children, Dianne E.
Bardsley and her husband, Paul of North Attleboro, Joseph E.
Braganca and his wife, Marcia of East Providence, Kathleen M.
Tracey and her husband, Terrence of North Attleboro, Patricia R.
Tomkiewicz and her husband, Roy of Cumberland, John P.
Braganca and his wife, Anne Marie of Pawtucket and Nancy J.
Crino and her husband, Richard of Foster; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Irene Giguere and Clara Braganca.
VISITATION will begin Thursday at 9 a.m. at WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St.
Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave.
Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the American Heart Assoc., P.O.
Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241 would be appreciated.
