Pawtucket – Joseph P. Braganca, 85, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia R. (Richard) Braganca. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Antonio and Ascencao (Tavares) Braganca. Joe was a machinist known as “Sam” at the Washburn Wire Company until purchasing Smith Machine, Pawtucket and later retiring from the Pawtucket School Department. He was very involved in baseball his entire life and had played four years with the New York Yankees Farm System. He always made himself available to help children interested in baseball, and was a Little League and Babe Ruth Coach throughout Rhode Island for many years. He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed restoring religious figurines. He leaves six children, Dianne E. Bardsley and her husband, Paul of North Attleboro, Joseph E.
