Pawtucket – Joseph T.
Boardman, III, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2020.
He was the beloved husband of the late Norma J. (Michael) Boardman.
Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Joseph T., Jr. and Mary (Dougherty) Boardman.
Boardman was a member of Durfee High School, Class of 1946, he went on to graduate from Indiana Technical College in 1956, having earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
He later worked as an engineering consultant for Maguire Group Consulting Engineers and was RIDOT’s Chief Bridge Inspection and Maintenance Engineer.
Boardman was also a United States Army veteran (Staff Sergeant) of the Korean War.
Boardman was a volunteer instructor for the American Red Cross, Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 15 Pawtucket.
He was a lifetime member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and Society of Civil Engineers.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed swimming, camping, photography and woodworking.
Boardman will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives he has touched over the past 91 years.
He leaves two sons, Edward Boardman and his wife, Karren, of Pawtucket and William Boardman and his wife, Dorian, of Wakefield; five grandchildren, Emily, Andrew and Sophia Boardman all of Wakefield, Joseph Boardman of Fayetteville, NC and Bonnie Jean Boardman of Eden Mills, VT; a sister, Eunice Simmons of West Bridgewater; two sisters-in-law, Heidi Boardman in Texas and Claire Boardman of Hockley, TX; a brother-in-law, Kenneth White of Swansea and many nieces and nephews.
He was the loving father of the late Joseph Boardman, IV; brother of the late Edward Boardman, Phoebe (Jack) Lyons, George Boardman, Mary (George) Flanagan, Rita (Roger) Perrault and Arlene White and brother-in-law of the late William Simmons.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend VISITATION on Tuesday, August 4th from 4 to 7 p.m. at WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
The funeral and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the American Red Cross, 8550 Arlington Blvd., Fairfax, VA 22031 would be appreciated.
