John W. Richardson, Jr.

East Providence – John W. Richardson, Jr., 92, CEO of New England Linen Supply, Pawtucket, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Mary J. (Canning) Richardson for sixty-four years. Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late John W. Richardson, Sr. and Ethel N. (Anderson) Richardson, he resided in Rumford since 1947. Mr. Richardson served as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, he was presented the Bronze Star for heroic action by Major General Leonard F. Wing. He graduated from Moses Brown and studied accounting and bookkeeping at Bentley College in Massachusetts. Mr. Richardson traveled extensively in Europe; summered in Barnstable, Massachusetts for many years; enjoyed boating on the Barrington Bay and was a member of the Hazards Beach Club, Newport for over 50 years.
