Pawtucket – John B. Bonaventure, 97, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. He was the beloved husband of the late Rose A. (Rafferty) Bonaventure, who passed away in May of 2021. Born in Central Falls, he was one of eleven children of the late Joseph and Mary (Robichaud) Bonaventure. John was a United States Army veteran of World War II and was a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster recipient for injuries sustained while in combat in Italy on both February 7, 1944 and April 7, 1944. Following the war, John went on to become the proprietor of Bonaventure’s Ice Cream in Pawtucket, and in more recent times he worked as the head of security at the RISD Museum. John was also very handy, he could fix just about anything and was known by his family and friends as “Mr. Fix-it”. He also enjoyed traveling, both he and his late wife, enjoyed visiting destinations throughout Ireland, France, and the United States.
