Pawtucket – Joanna H.

Sierzega, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2024.

Born in Salem, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Joseph, Sr. and Helena (Akatyszewski) Sierzega.

Joanna lived in Pawtucket for most of her life and graduated from St.

Mary Academy – Bay View, East Providence, in 1964.

She continued her education in nursing at the former Roger Williams General Hospital School of Nursing, Providence, and earned her degree in 1967.

Joanna worked her career as a Registered Nurse for over fifty years prior to retiring in 2011.

She was a devout woman of faith and a lifelong communicant of St.

Teresa Church, Pawtucket, where she served as the Assistant Treasurer of the Senior’s Club and was a member of the St.

Teresa’s Executive Board.

Joanna enjoyed knitting, shopping, gardening and traveling.

Her beautiful presence and friendship will be deeply missed within her community that she loved so much.

She is survived by two cousins, Dorothy Martel of NH, and Paul Palin of MA; her beloved rescue dog, Bailey, and many dear friends.

She was the sister of the late Joseph Sierzega, Jr., and dear friend of the late Clara I.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. from WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St.

Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.

Interment with her late brother will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her brother’s memory to Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
