Pawtucket – Joan R. (O’Brien) Monahan, 86, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

She was the wife of John E.

A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Richard J. and Helen (Tetreault) O’Brien.

Joan enjoyed working and had a career as a telephone operator for Verizon for many years until her retirement.

She was also a longtime volunteer at the Miriam Hospital in Providence.

Joan enjoyed getting dressed-up and having dinner with family and friends alike.

Above all, she will be lovingly remembered as a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Jane A.

Monahan, with whom she made her home in Pawtucket; two granddaughters, Jenny Sheehan of Pawtucket, and Patricia Monahan of Warwick; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Brenda Beauregard of Pawtucket, and Karen A.

Bradbury of Foxboro; a daughter-in-law, MaryAnn Monahan of North Providence, and many nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Patrick M.

Monahan, and the sister-in-law of the late David Bradbury.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Joan’s funeral on Thursday, March 3rd, at 11 a.m. from WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon in St.

Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.

Interment will follow at Mount Saint Mary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Pawtucket Animal Shelter, C/O Pawtucket P.D., 121 Roosevelt Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02860 would be appreciated.
