Joan R. Monahan

Pawtucket – Joan R. (O’Brien) Monahan, 86, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. She was the wife of John E. Monahan. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Richard J. and Helen (Tetreault) O’Brien. Joan enjoyed working and had a career as a telephone operator for Verizon for many years until her retirement. She was also a longtime volunteer at the Miriam Hospital in Providence. Joan enjoyed getting dressed-up and having dinner with family and friends alike. Above all, she will be lovingly remembered as a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Jane A. Monahan, with whom she made her home in Pawtucket; two granddaughters, Jenny Sheehan of Pawtucket, and Patricia Monahan of Warwick; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Brenda Beauregard of Pawtucket, and Karen A.
