Pawtucket – Janet A. (McCormick) Lavalley, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
She was the beloved wife of James Lavalley for sixty-four loving years after having met at Waterman Lake, where Janet’s family had a summer home and Jim resided year-round.
Born in Central Falls, she was the oldest of nine children of the late Charles and Alma (Bernier) McCormick.
Janet graduated from Pawtucket West High School and was a lifelong resident of the city.
She worked as a twister operator at Murdock Webbing for twenty years until her retirement.
She was later employed at Cherry & Webb, where she worked in the warehouse and enjoyed lots of laughs with the ladies.
Janet also worked at a Little Bit of Everything at their former locations on Armistice Boulevard, and then on Newport Avenue where she was the smiling face behind the register, always ready for a chat.
Janet and Jim enjoyed traveling in their younger years, including destinations to China, Hong Kong, Bermuda, Florida, Hawaii and many trips to The Cape Pointe Hotel in South Yarmouth with family and friends.
Her presence filled a room, and she will be fondly remembered by her bright smile, boisterous laugh and witty personality.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Jeffrey Lavalley of Attleboro, MA, Christopher Lavalley of Cumberland, and her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Robin and David Paquin of Pawtucket; a granddaughter, Nicole Faria of Pawtucket who will greatly miss her best friend and confidant; a grandson, Christopher Lavalley of Cumberland; a great-grandson, Jacob Faria, who always brought her such joy; six siblings, Arlene McCormick, Claire Mueller, Richard McCormick, Robert McCormick, Joan McCormick and Deborah McCormick; beloved shih Tzu, Toby, and many nieces and nephews.
