Pawtucket – James W. Smith, 71, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was the beloved son of the late Wilson and Mary (Healy) Smith. He was the brother of the late Barbara Vitolo. 

James served in the United States Army and was a devout Catholic. 

He is survived by his sister, Nancy Gagnon and her husband, George of North Providence. He leaves his niece, Christine Vitolo. He also leaves five nephews: Matthew and Christopher Gagnon, and Peter, Jonathan and David Vitolo.

VISITATION will be held on Monday, November 17th from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Mount Saint Mary Cemetery. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Memorial gifts to the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Miriam Hospital, 164 Summit Ave., Fain Building, 3rd Floor, Providence, RI 02906 would be appreciated. www.TrippFuneralHome.com
