North Providence – James M. Oliver, Jr., 54, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Born in Providence, Jimmy lived most of his life in North Providence, and was the son of James M. Oliver, Sr., with whom Jimmy made his home, and the late Janice M. (DiChiaro) Oliver. Jimmy was the proprietor of “On the Side HVAC” and was an avid classic car enthusiast. He and his father were members of several local car clubs, where he was known as “Smokey”. Together, they would attend many car shows and classic car cruise nights, and they also meticulously restored a classic, Smokey and the Bandit Edition, 1979 Pontiac Trans AM, having received many trophies for the restoration. Jimmy also recently acquired his dream car, a 1998 Corvette, C-5. In addition to his love of cars, Jimmy was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed attending games at Fenway Park.
