Pawtucket – James “Jim” M. Pion, 63, formerly of Block Island, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 17, 2020. Born in Providence, he was the son of Yvette (Lebeau) Pion of Pawtucket, and the late Russell N. Pion. A lifelong Pawtucket resident, Jim graduated from the former West High School, Pawtucket, in 1975. He worked as a security officer at the University of Rhode Island for twenty-seven years before retiring in 2016. A great outdoorsman, Jim loved surrounding himself with nature and camping with family and friends. A certified open water diver, his true passion was deep-sea fishing, digging for quahogs and being as one with the vast ocean. He played softball for Coastal Builders in Pawtucket for many years. Jim’s character mustache and gregarious personality will be greatly missed.
