Fochler, Sr., 84, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, January 16, 2025.

He was the beloved companion of Vivian L.

Roe for forty-one years.

Born in Middletown, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Walter A. and Blanche (Hipple) Fochler.

James was a United States Navy veteran and served aboard the USS Yosemite and the USS Wasp.

He went on to work for many years at GTE (Osram-Sylvania) as a glass equipment mechanic.

James was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and in his younger days enjoyed bowling in his company’s bowling league.

He enjoyed playing golf, visiting Cape Cod and spending time with his family and friends.

James will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives he has touched over the past eighty-four years.

Besides his loving companion, James leaves four children, James Fochler, Jr. and his wife, Patricia Shea of Cranston, Kevin M.

Fochler and his wife, MaryEllen, of Greenville, Lori Santarpio and her husband, Edward, of Attleboro, and Melissa Harrington and her husband, David, of Sterling, Connecticut; Vivian’s sons, Paul Arrighie and Norbert Schecher and his wife, Ana; eight grandchildren, Catherine, Ashley, EJ, Nicole, Rosemary, Connor, Kevin, and Eric; Norbert’s children, Briana, David, Vanessa and Cristina, and one great-grandson, Luke Santarpio.

He was the brother of the late Margaret “Peggy” Meyer and her husband, Robert.

The funeral will be held on Friday, January 24th at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.

Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.

Interment with Military Honors will follow at RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.

VISITATION will be held on Thursday, January 23rd from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 would be appreciated.
