James Russell Corbett

East Providence – James Russell Corbett, 94, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2011. He was the beloved husband of the late Vera (Mello) Corbett. Born in Torrington, CT, a son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Leifert) Corbett, he resided in East Providence since 1994, previously residing in Pawtucket. Mr. Corbett was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He was a compositor at the Providence Journal for twenty years before retiring in 1976. Mr. Corbett was a member of St. Matthew-Trinity Lutheran Church, Pawtucket and a former member of the East Providence Senior Bowling League. He leaves two daughters, Paula J. Richert and her husband Ron of Ocoee, FL and Georgina C. Lacy and her husband Kevin of Narragansett; five granddaughters, Ronda Swanson of Ft. White, FL, Donna Bianchi of Winter Garden, FL, Cathy Van Gorden of Franklin, TN, Kimberly Fusaro of Brooklyn, NY and Lauren Fusaro of Quincy, MA and seven great-grandchildren.
