Borden, 84, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 after a courageous battle with a long illness.
He was the beloved husband of Ruth “Jackie” (Kent) Borden for 42 years.
Born in Seekonk, he was the son of the late Henry and Imin (Houle) Borden.
Jimmy was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a life member of the American Legion.
He worked for many years at Tarpey Meats, Pawtucket; Newton Packaging Co. and more recently worked for the Pawtucket Housing Authority until his retirement.
Jimmy also enjoyed spending time with the Curzake Family at R&R Farms in Seekonk.
He was an avid New England Patriots football fan and in his youth he was a star football player at Pawtucket High School East, Class of 1952.
Jimmy enjoyed playing golf, gardening, cooking for his friends and family, and caring for animals, especially his cherished dog, “Chloe”.
Besides his beloved “bride” Jackie, he leaves his two daughters, Debra Johnson of Hollywood, FL and Sherri Turay and her husband, Edward, of East Providence; a step-son, David Silva in Florida; three step-daughters, Jackie Silva of Pawtucket, Diane Violo of Boynton Beach, FL and Donna Silva and her fiancé, Kevin Miniati of Pawtucket; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Dorothy Carduff.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care and compassion of the nurses and staff at both Rhode Island Hospital and Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island and especially his doctor, Dr.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at Noon at WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
VISITATION will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the RISPCA, 186 Amaral St., Riverside, RI 02915 will be appreciated.
