James Thomas Bechtel

Providence – James Thomas Bechtel, 73, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was the third born of four children of the late James A. and Mary E. (Woods) Bechtel. Tom was a Vice-President of Commodities for Merrill Lynch Wealth Management for many years until his retirement. During his retirement, he continued trading and was a follower of the stock markets and economy. Tom was an avid reader and lifelong “frustrated Detroit Lions fan,” unfortunately never being able to see his beloved team compete in a Super Bowl during his lifetime. He is survived by the mother of his children, Mary Gil Devlin of Fairport, NY, his three children, Stephen P. Bechtel and his wife, Stacey H. Paris of Fairport, NY, Abigail A. Bechtel and her husband, Ronald F. Herreid of Rochester, NY, Matthew J. Bechtel of Providence, and four grandchildren, James, Nessa and Mac Herreid and Zack Bechtel.
