Pawtucket – Jaime A. Silva, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family members on Monday, August 15, 2016. He was the husband of Hortense L. (Cabral) Silva and the late Maria J. (Sousa) Silva to whom he was married for thirty-six years until she passed away on April 23, 2004. Born in Sao Barnabe, Alentejo, Portugal, he was a son of the late Manuel A. Silva and Julia do Rosario. He enlisted in the Portuguese Navy in 1962 where he served on the Navy ship NRP Sagres. Jaime and his late wife, Maria came to the United States in May of 1970 and settled in East Providence before moving to Pawtucket in 1977. He was employed by the American Insulated Wire Company, Pawtucket until opening his own drywall and finishing company, J. A. Silva Contractor, Inc. Jaime was the proprietor of Gigi’s Portuguese Family Restaurant on Lonsdale Ave., Pawtucket from 1986 until 1993.
