Irene "Irish" A. Rhodes

East Providence – Irene “Irish” A. (Whalen) Rhodes, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph H. Rhodes, Sr. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Captain Joseph V. Whalen, Pawt. Fire Dept., Hose Co. #6 and Florence A. (Cournoyer) Whalen. Irene was a member of St. Teresa’s Seniors, The Royal Travelers and the Attleboro Lodge of Elks # 1014. She leaves a daughter, Elaine T. DiAngelo and her husband, Don of Seekonk; two grandchildren, Christine Noel Simao and her husband, George of East Providence and Robert J. Tweedly deployed to Iraq; two great-grandchildren, Jarrid R. and Barbara E. Tweedly; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Whalen and Alice Maloney and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Irene was the mother of the late Joseph H. Rhodes, Jr. and sister of the late Vincent E. Whalen. VISITATION will begin Wednesday at 11 a.m. followed by Services at Noon at WILLIAM W.
