Helen D. (Nordquist) Hoyas, 88, of Pawtucket and Ft.
Myers, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.
She was the wife of the late Raymond T.
Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Eric R.
Nordquist, Sr. and Sarah (Murphy) Nordquist.
Helen was a 1947 graduate of Cumberland High School, and a former long-time sales associate at the Wishing Well in Pawtucket and later in Rumford.
She was a member of St.
Teresa’s Mothers Club, Coach of the state champion St.
Teresa’s CYO Cheerleaders, and a volunteer with the Pawtucket Octoberfest and Bonita Springs, Florida, Women of the Moose, Chapter 1611.
Helen was the loving mother of Raymond “Chip” Hoyas, of Pawtucket, with whom she made her home, Chuck Hoyas of Loveland, Ohio, Beth Ann Lovain and her husband, Tim, of Alexandria, Virginia, and Rae Ann McGowan of Cranston and was preceded in death by her deeply beloved daughter, Kathleen A.
She was the cherished grandmother of William McGowan, Thomas McGowan and his wife, Stephanie, Daniel McGowan, Christopher Hoyas, Samantha Hoyas, Isabella Lovain, Kathleen Lovain and Ava Lovain; great-grandmother of Thomas, Talen, Arianna and Dryden McGowan.
She also leaves fourteen nieces and nephews, and her “Daughters of Her Heart” Genevieve Foley of Pawtucket and Kathleen Foley O’Brien of Norwich, CT and her children James O’Brien, Matthew O’Brien and Kara Anastasiou.
Helen was the companion of Paul J.
She was the sister of the late Eileen Williamson, Shirley Russell and Eric Nordquist, Jr.
At the request of Mrs.
Hoyas, funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to the Kathleen Hoyas Memorial Scholarship Fund at St.
Raphael Academy in Pawtucket would be appreciated.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
