Doran passed away peacefully on September 13, 2015 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his wife Joan B. (Karpowich) Doran to whom he has been married for 53 years.

Born in Pawtucket, RI he was the son of the late Bernard F.

Doran and the late Marie T (Morris) Doran.

He has been a resident of Seekonk, MA at a home he built and a yard he manicured to perfection for the past 36 years.He was the owner of Doran’s Photography Studio for over 40 years and was an accomplished wedding photographer.

He worked for many years for American Insulated Wire Corp, Pawtucket, as a Supervisor in charge of Tool & Die Design; receiving his formal training at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).

He was President of Local 1203 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.) for over 25 years.

From 1970 to 1978, he vigorously fought in the Rhode Island General Assembly to update the State Laws against pornography.

Finally, he succeeded with the passage of two laws, one for adults and the other for children specifically the Rhode Island Pornography Display Law which was the first in the nation.

He also worked very closely with Alabama Governor George Wallace and was actively involved in Morality in Media.Mr.

Doran was Veteran of World War II, and served in Germany as a Trooper in the 6th United States Constabulary Squadron.

He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal.

During the Korean War, Mr.

Doran served in the 5th Provisional Escort Guard Company 92 D.

Military Police Bn, 8th Army.

He was wounded during the Korean War but overcame this adversity.

He was a life member of Maj.

Post #306, Pawtucket.

He was a member of Council #57 Knights of Columbus, Pawtucket, RI and a 4th degree member of Delaney Assembly.

He was also a former East Providence, RI Police officer.

And, he served as a member of the Delta Dental of Rhode Island Board of Directors and the Seekonk Conservation Committee.His interests included photography, time with family, nature, gardening, riding his tractor with his signature straw hat, family celebrations and freely giving his time to anyone who needed it.

He always said that “you need to leave this world better than you found it” … and he did.

Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Marianne (Mimi) Doran-Collins and her husband Matthew A.

Collins of Attleboro, MA. and Christine M.

Sheehan and her fiancé Lou Pistocco also of Attleboro, MA.

He leaves 5 grandchildren; Ashley & Meaghan Sheehan and Alicia, Mikaela and Patrick Collins all of Attleboro, MA.He was the brother of the late Genevieve (Doran) Fleming, the late Bernard F.

Doran, Jr, the late Marion V. (Doran) Clay and late Eileen M. (Doran) Murphy.

He was the beloved uncle of 25 nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, Coyle Drive, Seekonk.

Interment will follow at Seekonk Cemetery.

Visitation and flowers are omitted.
