Pawtucket – Gilbert A.
Slater, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 21, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of Helen (Hogan) Slater for 66 years.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Gilbert A. and Mabel (Rawlings) Slater.
Gilbert was a manager at Texas Instruments for thirty-four years, retiring in 1989.
He was a longtime member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, Pawtucket.
Gilbert also operated amateur radio station “W1WAC” since 1951.
He belonged to both the Associated Radio Amateurs of Southern New England and the American Radio Relay League.
Besides his loving wife, Gilbert leaves three sons, Gilbert A.
Slater and his wife, Lois of Ft.
Slater and his wife, Joanne of Waterford, CT and Richard A.
Slater and his fiancée, Lisa Richards Press of Sarasota, FL.
He was the grandfather of Kelly Fernandes, Jeffrey Slater, Lindsey Slater and the late Brian Slater.
Gilbert was the great-grandfather of Joseph and Jenna Fernandes, Justin Slater, Janessa Coburn, Joshua, Hannah and Hayden Slater.
Services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by interment at Walnut Hill Cemetery.
VISITATION will be held on Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m.
Flowers are respectfully omitted.
