George P. Petretti, 80, of Dobbs Ferry died Wednesday, November 27, 2002. Mr. Petretti was born in the Bronx on October 17, 1922, to Alfred Petretti and Adele Rocco of Benevento, Italy. George graduated from Samuel Gompers Industrial High School in the south Bronx, Mr. Petretti became a union member of the Theatre and Amusement Service Employees Local 54 of Manhattan and then joined the United States Navy and served as a 1st Class Petty Officer during World War II. He spent most of his time on submarines and was a member of the US Submarine Veterans of World War II. George spent the rest of his working career, of 38 years, at the New York Telephone Co and retiring as a member from the CWA Local 1103 union. After the war, George married Mary L. Paul in Our Lady of Grace Church on Bronxwood Avenue, Bronx, NY.
