Pawtucket – George W. Dowling, 96, who had received over 30,000 Christmas cards in the past year, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Lucille T. (Doyle) Dowling. Born in Providence, the son of the late George P. and Isabelle (Hudson) Dowling, he resided in East Providence most of his life. George was a proud World War II United States Navy veteran and was the last man standing on the USS Liguria. He went on to become a Tool Crib Specialist at Quonset Point Naval Station for thirty years until retiring. George became a member of the Trinity Brotherhood in 1951, he was currently the eldest member and had served as the bookkeeper for over thirty-three years. George was a pro golfer, and had also been the Captain of the Rhode Island Figure Skating Team.
