George J. Cluley, Sr.

East Providence – George J. Cluley, Sr. 86, of Rumford, RI, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, after a long battle with prostate cancer.  He was the beloved husband of Rosemary L. (Truax) Cluley. George and Rosemary celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary on December 29th, 2022. George was born in Pawtucket, RI, in 1936 to the late Exzelia (Breault) Cluley and George J. Cluley. George grew up in Pawtucket and graduated from Pawtucket East High School in 1954.  He subsequently attended Rhode Island College of Pharmacy and served in the United States Army. After his military service, George returned to Rhode Island and embarked on a career in graphic arts and was a member of the Graphic Arts Union for forty years. Upon his retirement George embraced his many hobbies with passion. He volunteered at the former Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket and worked as a ground’s keeper at the Agawam Hunt Country Club in Rumford. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer.
