Pawtucket – George E.
Berard, 90, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023.
He was the beloved husband of Gloria J. (Metivier) Berard for over forty-one loving years.
Born in Central Falls, a son of the late Edouard F. and Florence G. (Beauvais) Berard, he resided in Pawtucket most of his adult life.
George honorably and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War in the 1666 Medical Company 5th Infantry Regiment.
He was employed by ITT Royal Electric for thirty-seven years as an Electrical Engineer / Process Engineer until retiring in 1992.
Our fondest memories are the many house parties, pool parties, camping trips and boating adventures with family and friends.
But our most cherished memories were driving cross-country to the Golden Gate Bridge in 1982 and to Alaska in 1985 on our Honda Goldwing motorcycle, towing a trailer logging in over 63,000 miles of safe fun-filled adventure in over four years.
We also, with little to no preparation, climbed Mt.
Washington in New Hampshire and Mt.
Mansfield in Vermont, enjoying all the beauty our country has to offer.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Linda Calista and her husband, Jeff, of Pawtucket, Steven Berard and his wife, Marly, of Smithfield, Joyce Washburn of Cranston and Ronald Berard and his wife, Karen, of Tennessee; his grandchildren, Becky Lozy, Katie Tomlin, Hannah Blackburn, Rob Washburn, Jessica Remillard, Anthony Berard, Jacqueline Neal and Danielle Hassinger; fifteen great-grandchildren; his brother, Raymond Berard and many nieces and nephews.
He also leaves his dear friends and “brother” Eddy and Terry Ledoux of East Greenwich.
He was the grandfather of the late Jamie Washburn and the brother of the late Roger Berard, Claire Lemieux, Helen Bennett, Louise Beland, Lucille, Paul, Maurice and John Berard.
His funeral with Military Honors will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.
Joseph Church of Holy Family Parish, 195 Walcott St., Pawtucket.
