Sankey, 80, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Albert and Helen D. (Dunford) Sankey.
Gary proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
A member of Teamsters Local 251, he was a truck driver for New Penn Motor Express, Cranston, for over fifteen years until retiring in 2002.
Gary was a member of Society Jacques Cartier, Pawtucket, and an avid Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees fan.
He leaves four children, Todd A.
Sankey of Johnston, Sean M.
Sankey and his wife, Laurie, of Attleboro, Ronda J.
Sankey of South Kingstown and Troy D.
Sankey of Warwick; a brother, Howard Sankey of Melbourne, Florida; a sister, Jane Grocott of Warwick; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Gregory S.
Sankey and the brother of the late Albert Sankey and Donald Sankey.
Due to the current pandemic restrictions, visitation is omitted.
Private interment with Military Honors will be at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston.
