East Providence – Frederick J. Brown, 69, of Rumford, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 27, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Merilou H. (Hay) Brown for 37 years. Born in Putnam, Connecticut, he was a son of the late Alexander, II and Mary F. (Belcher) Brown. Fred served his country in the United States National Guard and worked as an accountant for Amica Insurance, Co., Lincoln, for many years until his retirement. He was also a Mason and Past-Master of the Washington Lodge #3, in Warren. Fred was a member of the Rhode Island Shriners and served as Chief of the Artisan Unit and as a Boss Driver. He was a Past-Chairman of the Charities Trust Committee and was a driver for the Shriner’s Hospital Van Transportation Team. Fred was also a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, Providence Court #71. Besides his loving wife, Fred leaves a son, Thomas A.
