East Providence – Frederick J.

Brown, 69, of Rumford, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 27, 2015.

He was the beloved husband of Merilou H. (Hay) Brown for 37 years.

Born in Putnam, Connecticut, he was a son of the late Alexander, II and Mary F. (Belcher) Brown.

Fred served his country in the United States National Guard and worked as an accountant for Amica Insurance, Co., Lincoln, for many years until his retirement.

He was also a Mason and Past-Master of the Washington Lodge #3, in Warren.

Fred was a member of the Rhode Island Shriners and served as Chief of the Artisan Unit and as a Boss Driver.

He was a Past-Chairman of the Charities Trust Committee and was a driver for the Shriner’s Hospital Van Transportation Team.

Fred was also a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, Providence Court #71.

Besides his loving wife, Fred leaves a son, Thomas A.

Brown and his wife, Lori of Cumberland; two grandchildren, Bailee and Noah Brown; four siblings, Eleanor Hyde of Huntsville, Alabama, Dorothy Harris of South Kingstown, Elizabeth Graham of Greenville, Rhode Island, Alexander Brown, III of Providence and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late John Brown.

His funeral will be held on Friday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by Services at 10 a.m. in Wesley United Methodist Church, 55 Woodland St., Lincoln.

VISITATION will be on Thursday 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or the Pawtucket Animal Shelter, C/O Pawtucket Police Department, 121 Roosevelt Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02860 will be appreciated.
