Pawtucket - Francis G. Paquin, 100, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, April 16, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Esther (Palmer) Paquin for seven-five loving years. Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Mathias and Irene (Boule) Paquin.
Francis was a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving at Ft. Lawton in Seattle, Washington. After his discharge he returned home to Rhode Island. He worked for many years as presser in the drycleaning business. Upon retirement, he became the custodian of his beloved church, Cumberland Community Methodist Church. The church was a big and important part of his life, serving as an Elder and a Trustee.
During his marriage, Francis and his wife enjoyed square dancing on Saturday nights. When the Providence Civic Center opened in 1973, Francis was on the committee for the New England Square Dancing Association, which was responsible for bringing their convention to the brand-new civic center. It was the first convention to be held there. He was very proud of that.
Francis and his wife celebrated seventy-five years of marriage. Family meant everything to him. He was a very loving and caring man and was quick to say how proud he was of his children and family. His wife was his "special" lady, since they met. Family and God were the foundation he built his life upon.
Francis will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives he has touched over the past century.
Besides his loving wife, Francis leaves five children, Sheila Paquin of Pawtucket, Deborah Gingras and her husband, Ron, of Central Falls, Andre Paquin of East Providence, Brian Paquin and his wife, Linda, of Hope Valley, and Keri Laurila and her husband, Peter, of Pawtucket; a sister, Irene Lannon on Cape Cod; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Edna Boyea, Raymond, William, Arthur, Roland and Andre Paquin.
