Ernest B. Marot

Pawtucket – Ernest B. Marot, 82, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Rita F. (Sevigny) Marot for 62 years. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Armand J. and Alice (Cote) Marot. Ernie was a Faculty Chef at Providence College for 16 years before retiring in 1993, and was previously a bartender / function manager at the East Side Checker Club for 10 years and had also been employed by Swank, Inc. for over 25 years. In addition to devoting his life to family, Ernie’s community service efforts were selfless. He enjoyed mentoring children and was a little league coach and scout leader. Over many years, his grassroots fundraising network raised monies for the Ladd School, CYO, Meeting Street School, and other worthy causes. After retiring from employment, Ernest fulfilled a lifelong dream of feeding the hungry by founding the Pawtucket Soup Kitchen which he ran for 16 + years with his army of volunteers.
