Pawtucket – Ernest R.

Godin, 89, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023.

He was the beloved husband of the late Marie Gisele (Laprade) Godin.

A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Ernest O. and Lauranna (Dupere) Godin.

Ernest was a kind and gentle soul who took great pleasure in helping others, especially his children and grandchildren.

He was happiest when sharing a good meal and having fun with family and friends.

Ernest had a flair for gardening and yard work, and you could usually find him outside taking care of the yard, talking to neighbors and enjoying the sunshine.

He enjoyed watching Patriots Football and Red Sox games with family.

He would always dress up as Santa for the grandchildren on Christmas Eve, a tradition that we, his family, will dearly miss.

One of his favorite things to do was rock the great-grandbabies to sleep and holding them in his arms until they woke up.

This was the kind of man Ernest was… someone who enjoyed the simple but meaningful things in life.

He will be remembered always for the great love that he shared with Gisele, the love of his life.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially his loving family.

Ernest leaves two beloved daughters, Denise G.

Coutu of Lincoln and Celeste M.

Goldstein and her husband, David, of Cumberland; four cherished grandchildren, Lisanne, her husband Christopher, Laura, her husband Stephen, Joseph, his wife Alyssa, Molly and her husband Aaron; six adored great-grandchildren, Cameron, Taylor, Zachary, Michael, Oliver, and Brightly.

He was the loving father of the late Paul E.

Godin and the father-in-law of the late Rene Coutu.

VISITATION will be held on Monday, December 11th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St.

Joseph Church of Holy Family Parish, 195 Walcott St., Pawtucket.

Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Providence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to St.

Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St.

Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
