Elizabeth "Libby" J. Mclaughlin

November 12, 1944 — October 10, 2023

Charlotte, NC – Elizabeth “Libby” Jane McLaughlin, 78, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away following a long illness, on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Martha M. (Stiles) McLaughlin.

Libby was a graduate of St Mary Academy Bay View.

She went on to earn her Bachelors Degree from Salve Regina College, Masters Degree from University of Rhode Island, and completed a Graduate Advanced Executive program through Wharton School of Business.

Libby was a religious Sister of Mercy in the Diocese of Providence for nearly a decade, while teaching in many area schools.

She moved to Charlotte nearly forty years ago for her career, which culminated in her role as Vice President in an international insurance company.

She served as a Trustee and former Chair of the Board of the Charlotte Symphony, a member of the Board of Directors for Children & Family Services Center, and was involved in many other charitable organizations.

Libby was a longtime and active communicant of St Gabriel Church in Charlotte.

She enjoyed reading, golf, and traveling in the US and abroad with family, friends and colleagues.

She is survived by her loving twin sisters, Jean M.

Lamarre and her husband, Albert, of Pawtucket, and Ann M.

McLaughlin of East Providence; a niece, Beth Ann Lamarre and her partner, Thomas Roderick, of Seekonk, MA; a nephew, David P.

Lamarre and his wife, Lyndsey Ursillo, of North Providence; a grandnephew, Luca, and several cousins, colleagues and dear friends.

She was the sister of the late Louise Ellen McLaughlin.

Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9:00 a.m. from WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St.

Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.

Interment in the family plot will follow at Mount St.

Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Plans have not yet been finalized for a memorial service in Charlotte.
