Pawtucket – Elizabeth “Betty” A.
Girard, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Conrad E.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Edward Cloutier of Cranston and the late Claire (Arrighi) Bois with her adoptive father Edward Bois of Pawtucket.
Betty graduated from Tolman High School in Pawtucket and was Salutatorian of her class.
She retired from The Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island in 2011 after 40 years of service.
During her tenure, Betty expressed her deep conviction to help others and serve the community.
She worked in various management positions throughout the hospital and completed her professional service as the Senior Vice President of Operations under the leadership of her dear friend and administrator of the hospital, Francis R.
She is fondly remembered by many former employees and friends who often share their memories with the family about Betty’s kindness, commitment to quality health care and dynamic work achievements.
As the family matriarch, Betty was fully committed to her family who she loved deeply.
She was a pillar of strength and always took the initiative to ensure that family members, dear friends and even strangers were taken care of in the best way possible.
She enjoyed playing with the grandkids, shopping, good fashion, decorating her home, going to the beach and traveling on vacation.
She is survived by two children, Arnold Fontaine and his wife, Sharon, of PA, and Shari Bitsis and her husband, Kosta, of Seekonk; three stepchildren, Stephen Girard and his late wife, Paula-Jean, of Rumford, Paula Levesque and her husband, Rick, of FL and Lori Pfiel and her husband, Gerry, of Attleboro; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and four siblings, Edward Cloutier of MD, Suzanne Cloutier Layel of MS, Giles Cloutier of Warwick and Daniel Cloutier of NH.
Betty was the beloved sister of the late Carolyn Messier of Pawtucket, the stepmother of the late Carleen Connor of Attleboro, and the grandmother of the late Christopher Denzer of Attleboro.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St.
Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
Interment with her late husband will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Rhode Island Mood and Memory Research Institute, 1018 Waterman Ave., East Providence, RI 02914 would be appreciated.
