Seekonk - Eleanor Edythe (McIntosh) Strom, 100, was peacefully welcomed home by God in the early morning of October 26, 2021, after being present on this earth for more than 100 years.
She honored her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Ellis Strom, faithfully waiting to rejoin him 10 years and 20 days after his passing.
They had been married for 63 years.
Together they resided in Seekonk since 1958, Eleanor nearly all her life.
Born in Rhode Island on December 30th, 1920, she was the daughter of the late James G.
McIntosh and Ethel (Newman) McIntosh and sister of the late Thelma L. (McIntosh) Osbaldeston and Janet M. (McIntosh) Burton.
Together, Eleanor and Robert had one daughter, Robin L. (Strom) Harris and Robin’s husband, their son-in-law and friend, Charles L.
Eleanor was noted as saying that she never expected to be blessed with three grandchildren Chad, Jason, and Jennifer (Tadros) and their spouses Rebecca, Debbie and Mark who gave her five great-grandchildren Victoria, Chad Jr., Brooke, Noah, and Hannah who gave her three great-great-grandchildren, Jazper, Conner, and Ellis.
Eleanor served as a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.
She was their Secretary of Membership, their UMC Women’s Group and their Cradle Roll.
She ran the Thrift Shop for many years as well.
Eleanor enjoyed helping in the care of babies and little children for friends and family and did so for many years.
She also helped in the Soup Kitchen at Seekonk Memorial Baptist Church.
Eleanor read her Bible every day and this Truth played a central role in her life.
As a true woman of faith, Eleanor preferred to lead by example.
She loved enjoying time with her family.
She has told many stories of the games she would play with her friends, family, and specifically her sisters when they were children.
Eleanor loved games for the fun of it, word games, card games, and board games.
Many nights passed playing with her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Eleanor didn’t believe in “letting anyone win”, but she’d let you win if she was “winning too much”, except when she was bowling with the Monday Morning Gals.
Eleanor loved wildlife and gardening.
She was very creative and made May Baskets and Christmas Wreaths for church members, friends, and family.
Eleanor was always confident, calm, and considerate.
She devoted herself to those she loved.
Her dedication was a part of her character that affected all facets of her life.
Eleanor was an example of faith, dedication, devotion and steadfast love.
A product of the “Greatest Generation”, she was truly the Best of the Best and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Services on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church, 915 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
Interment with her late husband will follow at Seekonk Cemetery, Newman Ave., Seekonk.
Visitation and floral tributes are respectfully omitted.
Memorial donations in her memory to Epworth United Methodist Church would be appreciated.
