Edward H. Morris (known as Ed), a long-time resident of Cranston, RI, was born on September 6, 1950, and passed away on April 15, 2026.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Virginia Morris, and his brother, Frederick Morris. He is survived by his partner, Barry Jones, of Cranston, RI, and Wakefield, MA; his brother, Stephen Morris, and Stephen's wife, Lorrie, of Rehoboth, MA; his sister, Diana Delouise, of Plymouth, MA; and his daughter, Sherry Farrell, and her children, of RI.
Edward worked tirelessly throughout his life to support family, friends, and anyone in need he encountered along the way. He worked for many years as a telecommunications system contractor in RI. Ed was also a licensed real estate broker in both MA and RI, and many clients stayed in touch with him for years for his steady advice and support as they purchased their homes.
In 1992, Ed established Rainbow House to provide transitional sober living support. This RI nonprofit corporation has helped countless individuals on their path to recovery. Whether serving as executive director or a board officer, Ed worked to ensure the program stayed true to its mission. Through various locations and programs, including Blue Sky Healing Circle, the model inspired others to build similar supports. The Rainbow House name will continue as a legacy of Ed Morris.
Ed also loved to sing whenever karaoke opportunities arose. Before the pandemic, he often performed for seniors in nursing facilities, encouraging residents to sing along to their favorite oldies.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rainbow House, P.O. Box 3671, Cranston, RI 02910.
