January 15, 1945 — June 27, 2018

Newport – Edna A. (Cooper) Grant, 73, of Newport and Longboat Key, FL, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 with family by her side at Newport Hospital, Newport.

She was the beloved wife of Arthur E.

Grant, Jr. for 27 years.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Thomas A. and Ida (Chace) Cooper.

Edna was a Class of 1963 graduate of Hope High School, Providence and went on to become a Certified Tax Preparer for H & R Block, where she was office manager for over thirteen years until her retirement.

Edna loved traveling with her family and friends, especially the many cruises she took that gave her the opportunity to visit several places around the world.

Besides traveling, she loved to entertain her friends and family, hosting dinner parties and serving delicious meals, including her famous baked stuffed lobsters along with sharing a bottle of wine with her loved ones.

Besides her loving husband, she leaves two daughters, Dawn A.

Thompson of Cumberland and Doreen A.

Shottek of Pawtucket; three granddaughters, Erika Asermely, Haley Thompson and Alison Shottek; two great-grandchildren, Jaela Otero and Timothy “T.J.” Hervieux; two sisters, Eunice Hughes of Naples, FL and Regina Fiontella of Johnston and many nieces and nephews.

She also is survived by three step children, Valerie Nemeth, Peter and Alan Grant and five step grandchildren.

She was the sister of the late Carol Brown and Thomas Cooper.

Her funeral will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by interment at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.

VISITATION will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.

Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St.

Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the American Cancer Society, P.O.

Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 will be appreciated.
