Edna M. Fawcett

March 11, 1943 — November 22, 2025

Cumberland

It is with deep love that we announce the passing of Edna M. Fawcett, a devoted wife, mother, and steady source of kindness to all who were blessed to know her. She passed away on November 22, 2025 at home, with her family by her side. Edna is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Ronald B. Fawcett and their four children Jeanne and the late Jacob Handelman, Jill and Christopher Bille, Dan and Stephanie Fawcett, and Donna Nunez who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. Her memories will also live on through her twelve cherished grandchildren Etana (Erik) Anderson, Saria Handelman, Rebecca Handelman, Leah Handelman, Joshua Handelman, Matthew Fawcett, Meaghan (Connor) Williams, Mason Fawcett, Max Fawcett, Nathan Nunez, Ashlyn Nunez, and Noah Nunez.

Edna was predeceased by her parents, Lorens and Marion Hemdal and her sister, Alma Peterson. Born on March 11, 1943, Edna grew up in Queens, NY before marrying and living most of her years in Rhode Island. Edna received her diploma from the Lenox Hill Hospital Nursing program in New York City and became a Registered Nurse. She later attended Columbia University to pursue her nursing career until she married. Her calling as a caregiver extended far beyond her long nursing career. She devotedly took care of her parents, in-laws and others for many years. Many will remember her opening her home to others and enjoying her home-cooked meals. She loved having her Thanksgiving table filled with her family.

Edna was a woman defined by compassion and love of God. She was deeply spiritual and faithfully served the Lord from a young age. Her hands were always busy helping others, caring for her grandchildren and following her Christian values. Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her love will live on in the family she adored.

The family will receive friends and family for visiting hours on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. followed by her funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at William W.
