North Providence – Douglas K.
Putnam, Jr., 40, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away with family by his side on Saturday, June 10, 2023.
He was the husband of Amy M. (Galindo) Putnam since June 10, 2017.
Born in Providence, Doug grew up and spent most of his youth in Pawtucket.
He was the son of Douglas K.
Putnam, Sr. of Stoughton, and Lillian S. (Brochu) Ledo of Pawtucket, and the stepson of Lesley Putnam of Stoughton, and David Ledo, Sr. of Pawtucket.
Doug enlisted in the United States Air Force right after his graduation from William E.
Tolman High School in 2000 and served for twenty years.
He was a combat veteran and military retiree and completed several deployments to the Middle East and Afghanistan.
Following his military service, Doug went on to serve on the Pawtucket Fire Department until a shoulder injury prohibited him from continuing his service.
Doug was also a longtime member of the Freemasons and was actively pursuing his passion for studying history by attending classes at CCRI in Lincoln.
Doug enjoyed many different hobbies from collecting wristwatches to beekeeping and just about anything in-between.
Doug or “DK” as his family and close friends referred to him was truly “one-of-a-kind”, and he will always be remembered for his heavy Rhode Island Accent, colorful and unique vocabulary, love of Moxie “soda pop” (an acquired taste and popular in Maine and northern New England), gourmet coffee, self-harvested local honey, houseplants and many, many other interests.
Above all else, he was devoted to his beloved daughter, Lilly Rose.
Though Doug was taken from us far too soon, his memory will live on in our hearts and minds through sharing the many stories and experiences that each of us will hold so dear.
Besides his beloved wife, mom, dad and stepparents, Doug leaves his beloved daughter, Lilly Rose Putnam; three siblings, Heather Putnam and her wife, Kelly Hines, of West Warwick, Nichole Dunhill and her husband, Brandon, of Pawtucket, and David Ledo, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada; a brother-in-law, Michael Kinne, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and very close friends.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a Prayer Service at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13th followed by calling hours from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
Graveside Interment with Military Honors at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250 would be appreciated.
