Dorothy Traghella

Pawtucket - Dorothy (Anderson) Traghella, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late William Traghella, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage.

Born in Pawtucket, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Elmer Anderson and Mabel (Aylward) Anderson, and is now reunited in heaven with her two daughters, the late Doreen Peirce (2024) and Linda Peirce (2016).

Dorothy, also known as Dot or Dottie, was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, and friend. She was a kind, caring, and selfless woman whose greatest joy in life was her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dorothy dedicated 36 years of her career to Key Container in Pawtucket, where she worked as a bookkeeper. She remained devoted to her work until the age of 82, retiring in August of 2021. She was deeply respected and loved by those who worked alongside her and formed many lasting friendships that continued beyond her time there.

Dorothy was also a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan. She especially enjoyed her adventures to Opening Day, traveling with friends and sisters to games from Baltimore to Toronto. She also enjoyed the simple pleasure of listening to the game on the radio or relaxing at home watching from her favorite recliner. Regardless of where she was, she was always ready to cheer them on.

Family was everything to Dorothy. She spent her life caring for the people she loved and was truly the heart and foundation of her family. She was a true matriarch. Her unwavering love and generosity touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She cherished time spent with her family the most and loved creating memories together.

She is survived by her beloved siblings, Shirley Petel; Patricia Beauregard and her husband, Ron; and Kenneth Anderson and his wife, Emilie; her son-in-law and devoted caretaker until the end, Gary A. Peirce, loving husband to the late Doreen Peirce; and her loving grandchildren, Jason Peirce and his wife, Lauren; Jennifer Zwolinski and her husband, Gregory; Alicia Gildea and her husband, Ryan; Jillian Oates and her husband, Terrence; and Andrew Peirce and his partner, Chloe.

She was a proud great-grandmother to Lucas Zwolinski, Jackson Peirce, Amelia Zwolinski, Mackenzie Peirce, Leo Peirce, Peyton Oates, and William Peirce. Dorothy is predeceased by her siblings, Ruth Hammond, William Anderson, Myra Anderson, George Anderson, Robert Anderson, and Beverly Anderson.

Dorothy will be remembered for her generous spirit, her quick wit and sense of humor, and the way she could bring love and warmth into any room. Her presence is already deeply missed, but the memories she created with her family and friends will always be remembered and cherished.

The funeral will be held on Friday, September 18th, at Noon from the WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. in St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
