Dorothy E. Keane

South Attleboro – Dorothy E. (King) Keane, 91, left us on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 for heaven, to join her late husband, Gerald J.

Keane, Former Mayor of Attleboro, Massachusetts.

A lifelong resident of South Attleboro, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Reta (Worden) King.

Dorothy was the assistant teacher at the Coelho Middle School in South Attleboro, for twenty years having retired in 1998.

In her free time, she loved antiquing and knitting for the homeless.

Dorothy also had a passion for history and served as the first president of the Attleboro Historic Society.

A devout Catholic, Dorothy was a lifelong member of St.

Theresa of the Child Jesus Parish in South Attleboro and was actively involved in many of the parish ministries including the parish’s Christian Mothers group.

In addition to her devotion to the church, Dorothy was an avid New England sports fan and especially enjoyed following the Boston Celtics.

Above all, Dorothy was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives she has touched over the past ninety-one years.

Keane and her spouse, Louise, of Dighton, James J.

Keane and his wife, Kim, of North Attleboro, John F.

Keane and his wife, Nurys, of Attleboro, and Kathleen K.

Conner and her husband, Steve, of Golden, Colorado; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank R.

King and his wife, Sandra, of Braden Beach, Florida; a brother-in-law, Frank O’Connell of South Attleboro and sister-in-law, Patricia Keane of South Attleboro; dear friends, Winifred Bourque of South Attleboro, Pauline Macomber of Attleboro, Jackie Mongeau of South Attleboro and Roberta Cairns of Attleboro, and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was the sister of the late Joane Keane and Barbara O’Connell, both of South Attleboro.

The funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.

Theresa of the Child Jesus Church, 18 Baltic St., South Attleboro.

Interment will follow at Newell Burying Ground in Attleboro.

VISITATION will be held on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
