Doris Mary George

July 27, 1934 — July 5, 2025

Doris Mary George, originally of Central Falls, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, just shy of her 91st birthday.

She was surrounded by family in her final days.

Doris was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert E.

George Sr., her son Robert George, Jr, and parents Karim Gabriel and Weeda (Mousab) Gabriel.

Doris lived a very full life with family always centered as her first priority closely followed by her Christian faith.

She was the oldest child of the Gabriel clan and loved to be surrounded by family.

She loved to entertain, was known as an exceptional cook and baker, especially of ethnic Syrian foods.

She was very active in St Ephraim’s Syrian Orthodox Church in Rhode Island, from participating in the choir with her angelic voice to later leading the women’s society for a number of years.

She also played a very prominent role in helping the church’s priest and his family settling into America in the 1950’s.

Aside from her native English language, Doris was also fluent in Arabic as well as Aramaic, the ancient language of Christ and his disciples.

Doris moved to Connecticut with her family in 1976 where she and Bob raised their family.

Doris was very intelligent and wise, well-educated in global history, geo-politics, business and economics.

As a young woman she worked as an executive assistant for the President at Blackstone Valley Gas & Electric.

She restarted her career later in life and was a highly-valued employee at PriceWaterhouseCoopers where she was deeply adored by colleagues and company leadership for her congeniality and photographic memory that routinely astonished both colleagues and clients.

Always put together and very well dressed, Doris carried herself with class and dignity.

She will be missed by many here on earth, but has entered heaven to join her loved ones who predeceased her.

Doris was pleased to have been able to remain in her home as she aged, despite her physical limitations.

The family is grateful for the quality and compassionate care from numerous aides and medical professionals, including those at Middlesex Hospital during her final days.

Doris was a proud American, who loved her country and donated regularly to veterans associations, specifically Tunnel 2 Towers, Wounded Warriors, and Boys Town.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Dumaine of Marlborough, Massachusetts, her son Mark George of Jupiter, Florida along with his wife, Lisa and their children, Alexander, and Marisa, with whom Doris deeply loved and adored.

She also leaves behind her brother Albert Gabriel and his wife May, brother Ronald Gabriel and his wife Carole, and her sister Nancy Reed.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 11th, at 10am at St Ephraim’s Syriac Orthodox Church, 215 Washington Street, Central Falls, Rhode Island, followed by a service at 11am, then burial at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd, Providence, Rhode Island.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be directed to St.

Ephraim’s Church or to her charities cited above.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted with WILLIAM W.
