Pawtucket – Donna M. (Thorpe) Pollitt, 85, also known as “The Queen of Oakland Avenue” in Pawtucket, passed away peacefully at her lifelong home with family by her side on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

She was the beloved wife of the late Edmund J.

Pollitt, Jr. who passed away in January of 2000.

A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Austin, Sr. and Marion (Green) Thorpe.

Donna worked for several local companies, including Hasbro, Allied Fashion, NEPTCO and Stop and Shop.

She enjoyed visits to the casino and taking her chances with the lottery, playing cards in various card leagues, “Rummikub” and other board games with family and friends.

Donna enjoyed bowling with her husband Ed.

She was also an avid follower of the daily trials of Judge Judy.

Donna always spoke of happy memories of spending summers at Bay Springs, Barrington and was an avid swimmer.

Donna was a longtime member of the Seekonk Swim & Tennis Club.

In addition to her various hobbies, Donna loved to shop online, through QVC and at all the local stores in early preparation for her favorite holiday, Christmas.

She was known for usually having all the Christmas shopping completed well in advance of the day.

Above all, Donna was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives she has touched over the past eighty-five years.

Donna leaves five children, Joanne Schondek and her husband, Joseph, of Pawtucket, Walter Mercier and his wife, Rosemary, of Canterbury, CT, William Mercier, Sr., and his wife, Robin, of Attleboro, Donna Holland and her partner, Louis Tomaselli, of Cranston, and Amy Fontaine and her husband, Brian, of Rehoboth; thirteen grandchildren, Jessica, John, Katherine, Walter, John, Caroline, William, Jr., Kristen, Amanda, Kellie, Aidan, Brady, and Camden; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Barbara LaFountaine, Austin Thorpe, Jr., Donald Thorpe, and Sandra McGee.

Donna considered herself to be truly blessed to have been able to spend many years with her loving dog, Jingles by her side.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, August 29th at 10 a.m. from WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish, Coyle Dr., Seekonk.

Interment will follow at Mount Saint Mary Cemetery in Pawtucket.

VISITATION will be held on Wednesday, August 28th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to either St.

Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St.

Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish, C/O Parish Office, 385 Central Ave., Seekonk, MA 02771 would be appreciated.
