Pawtucket – Donald W.
Brown, Sr., 86, of Oswald St., passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015.
He was the beloved husband of Gladys E. (Walters) Brown for 68 years.
Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Alexander, Jr. and Lillian (Bailey) Brown, and had resided in Pawtucket all his life.
Donald was a World War II, US Coast Guard veteran and a member of the American Legion.
Brown was a former member of Local #1 Bricklayers & Masons Union of Providence and had been Foreman Bricklayer for many years for the E.
Turgeon Construction Co. on many Rhode Island building projects.
He later owned and operated with his sons, the Don Brown & Sons Historical Masonry Co., Inc.
Donald also served as a consultant and “House Doctor” for the Providence Preservation Society.
Brown was an inventor and holder of several United States Patents.
He was a licensed aircraft pilot for over sixty years and a Founding Charter member of the RI Hangar of Quiet Birdmen.
He was a member of the former Barney Merry Lodge #29 F. & A.M. of Pawtucket, and presently St.
John’s Lodge #1 F. & A.M. of Providence, where he was the recipient of the Grand Lodge of RI Fifty Year Masonic Veterans Medal.
Besides his loving wife, Donald leaves five beloved children, Donna L.
Reinsant and her husband, Jeffrey, Sr. of North Attleboro, Susan L.
Flannagan and her husband, William H. of Pawtucket, Douglas (Kesh) W.
Brown of Boise, ID, Donald W.
Brown, Jr. of Pawtucket and Scott A.
Brown and his wife, Jennifer of Kuna, ID; a brother, Kenneth A.
Brown of Pawtucket; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late David A.
Brown, Sr. and the brother of the late John G.
VISITATION will begin on Monday at 11 a.m. at the WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by Services with Military Honors at 1:30 p.m. at the Historic Swan Point Cemetery Chapel, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence.
Burial will be Private.
