Pawtucket - Diana M. (Neves) Fernandes, 95, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, she was the daughter of the late Elizeau B. and Maria (Santos) Neves.
Diana immigrated to the United States in 1959 and initially settled in New York.
She relocated to New Bedford, Massachusetts where she worked as a seamstress until moving to Pawtucket, Rhode Island, where she worked at the former Pawtucket Dress Corporation.
Thereafter, she ventured out and worked in the jewelry manufacturing business at several locations in Pawtucket.
Diana tirelessly worked two jobs until the age of sixty-seven before fully retiring at seventy-two years old.
A dedicated member of Bethany Church of the Nazarene congregation for fifty-two years, she considered the church her second home.
She enjoyed spending time with her two adoring grandchildren and attended numerous family gatherings and church events.
Otherwise known as “Diana the Diva” and “Tia Dica”, she always dressed impeccably beautiful.
She treasured her family, friends, and church community with a love that reciprocated back to her.
She is survived by her only child, a son, Antonio Fernandes, Jr., and his wife, Deborah, of Lincoln; two grandchildren, Cassandra and Lorenzo Fernandes, both of Lincoln; a sister Albertina Fonseca of Brava, Cape Verde and numerous cousins, especially the ones she revered as her daughters, Maria Bouchard of Pawtucket and Belinda Fernandes of Lincoln.
A great thank you to all the congregational members of Bethany Church of the Nazarene who have been family to us.
Also, a special thank you to the Ferriera, Silva, Ferro and Bala families for your support throughout the years.
