David L. Mclaughlin

McLaughlin, 61, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2024, while under the compassionate care of the staff at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence.

He was the beloved husband of Lisa M. (Viegas) McLaughlin for thirty-eight wonderful years.

A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Mederic D., Sr. and Irene (Mello) McLaughlin.

David earned his master’s degree in education and went on to touch the lives of countless students over the years.

He began his teaching career at St.

Raphael Academy in Pawtucket and more recently at Lincoln Middle School, where he passionately taught biology and science.

He was an effective educator and colleague who had a very positive influence over his many students and fellow teachers.

David’s family wishes to thank his many friends at the Lincoln School Department for the beautiful cards and notes received, offering words of support and encouragement through his illness.

They are a true testament to the kind of man David was and the impact that he has had on the lives of his students and co-workers.

David was an avid sports fan and recently joked that he would be missing out on this year’s Superbowl Pools.

He also enjoyed visits to Newport, Rhode Island with his family and friends.

David possessed a great, (though dry) sense of humor and always brought smiles to the faces of those around him.

Above all else, he was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who always put his family’s well-being ahead of his own.

David will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives he has touched over the past sixty-one years.

Alongside his loving wife, David leaves two children, Christa and Andrew McLaughlin both of Pawtucket; a granddaughter, Siena June Lupino and a brother, Mederic D.

McLaughlin, Jr. and his wife, Debbie, in Kentucky.

At David’s own request, Services will be private.
