Seekonk – Charles R. Leland, Jr., 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Ellen A. (Petzold) Leland. Born in Randolph, VT, he was a son of the late Charles R. Leland, Sr. and Janet (Maxfield) Larkin. Charles served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and worked as an engineer and program manager in military defense for many years until retiring. He served as the Pastor of First Baptist Church of East Providence and was also a longtime member of Memorial Baptist Church, Seekonk. Charles had his private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying small aircraft; sailing; scuba diving and giving of himself to Habitat for Humanity and the various ministries and charities of the church. He leaves a son, Norman J. Leland and his wife, Dawn of Rehoboth; two grandchildren, Bianca Barrera and Ethan Leland; a brother, James Leland of Newport, NH and several nieces and nephews.
