Cecilia M. Couto

Pawtucket – Cecilia M. (Medeiros) Couto, 74, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving children. She was the beloved wife of the late Adriano M. Couto for forty-nine years. Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Gil and Honorina (Figueiro) Pimentel. Cecilia immigrated to the United States in the spring of 1969 and settled in Pawtucket where she made her home with her family. She was the youngest of six children and was the first to settle in the States, where she obtained her U.S. citizenship at age twenty-four, and pioneered the immigration of her five siblings. Cecilia worked at the former Rhode Island Textile, Pawtucket, for thirty years, prior to retiring in 2016 from RISD, where she worked as a custodian. She enjoyed gardening and was a fabulous cook who loved to entertain in her home. Cecilia was a woman of faith, attending Mass regularly at St. Teresa Church.
