Cecilia M. Couto

Pawtucket – Cecilia M. (Medeiros) Couto, 74, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving children.

She was the beloved wife of the late Adriano M.

Couto for forty-nine years.

Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Gil and Honorina (Figueiro) Pimentel.

Cecilia immigrated to the United States in the spring of 1969 and settled in Pawtucket where she made her home with her family.

She was the youngest of six children and was the first to settle in the States, where she obtained her U.S. citizenship at age twenty-four, and pioneered the immigration of her five siblings.

Cecilia worked at the former Rhode Island Textile, Pawtucket, for thirty years, prior to retiring in 2016 from RISD, where she worked as a custodian.

She enjoyed gardening and was a fabulous cook who loved to entertain in her home.

Cecilia was a woman of faith, attending Mass regularly at St.

She cherished time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, and will be dearly missed by many.

She is survived by her two loving daughters, Susan Auclair of Pawtucket and Lucy Freedman and her husband, Adam, of Barrington; three granddaughters, Tessa Snowden and Sophie and Esme Freedman; two sisters, Ines Serodio and Urselina Leite; her beloved granddog, Ziggy, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was the sister of the late Manuel Pimentel, Gil Pereira, and Jose Pimentel.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, March 17th at 9:00 a.m. from WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St.

Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.

Interment with her late husband will follow at Mount St.

Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 16th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
