Catherine Mary O'Brien

Pawtucket – Catherine Mary (Strzepka) O’Brien, 90, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the home of her son in Dayton, Ohio. She was the beloved wife of the late John F. O’Brien. Born in Central Falls, the eldest daughter of the late Simon and Mary (Zmuda) Strzepka, she resided in Pawtucket most of her life. Catherine attended St. Joseph Grammar School, Central Falls and was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Pawtucket. She married her beloved John at Sacred Heart Church on September 27, 1947 and thereafter resided on Park St. on the View. Catherine worked as a bookkeeper for over 20 years each at Artistic Leather Novelty, Fountain St. and Reliable Furniture both in Pawtucket. She was an active member and Past-president of the Walter G. Gatchell VFW Post 306 Auxiliary, and a Past-president of the VFW District 5 Auxiliary. Catherine was a longtime parishioner of the former Sacred Heart Church, Park St., where she was a Charter Member of the Guild and also served as a Eucharistic Minister. She...
