Carlton George Rutter, 93, of Seekonk, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
He was the devoted husband of his late wife, Joan L.
Rutter, with whom he shared an extraordinary 70 years of marriage.
Born in Fall River, MA, Carlton was the son of the late George H.
Rutter and Margret Corbishley Rutter.
A proud graduate of B.M.C.
Durfee High School, Class of 1949, Carlton was a standout football player whose talent earned him induction into the Durfee Hall of Fame.
A true patriot, Carlton served his country with honor as a Korean War veteran, spending time on the front lines and earning recognition for his service.
After his military service, Carlton pursued higher education, earning his engineering degree from Roger Williams College.
His career spanned notable companies, including Texas Instruments and Polaroid Corporation, where his expertise and dedication left an indelible mark.
Carlton’s life was enriched by his many passions.
A gifted painter, he spent his retirement creating stunning works of art that brought joy to family and friends.
He found solace in gardening, fishing, golfing, and treasured every moment spent with his wife and family, especially his grandchildren.
A man of faith, Carlton was a Christian and a member of the Memorial Baptist Church in Seekonk, MA.
Fittingly, he attended worship on the day of his passing, a reflection of his unwavering commitment to his faith.
He is now reunited with his Savior and his beloved wife, Joan.
Carlton leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration.
He is survived by his three sons: Steven Rutter and his wife Susan of Seekonk, MA; Michael Rutter and his wife Christina of West Greenwich, RI; and Carlton Rutter and his wife Rosanna of Glendale, CA.
He also leaves six adoring grandchildren: Jessica, Grant, James, Alyssa, Casey, and Nolan, along with one great-granddaughter, Lucia.
Carl was predeceased by his brother, Melvin Rutter, of Broken Arrow, OK.
A celebration of Carl’s life will take place on Friday, December 13th at 11 a.m. at the WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, RI.
Interment will follow at Seekonk Town Cemetery, Newman Ave., Seekonk.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 13th from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carl’s memory may be made to Memorial Baptist Church, 340 Central Ave., Seekonk, MA, honoring his enduring faith and commitment to the community.
