Capt. Ret. Douglas E. Mcdiarmid

Lake Nona, FL - McDIARMID, Capt. Ret. Douglas E., passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Veterans Hospital in Lake Nona, Florida. He was a police officer for the City of Central Falls, RI, a job he truly loved, for over 33 years, retiring with the rank of captain. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Theresa (Dufresne) McDiarmid. He leaves his son Stephen Desjardins (Doris) of Orlando, FL, daughters Paula Dacier (Ken) of Sherman, TX, Denise Winston (Ted) of Wakefield, RI, and Dawn Marcou (Tom) of Kissimmee, FL. Doug was predeceased by his brother Gordon, and parents William McDiarmid and Gladys Martin. He and his brother were raised by their father in Hopewell, VA. Identical twins, Douglas and Gordon had many interesting childhood experiences, including selling war bonds, and an exhibition boxing match with Joe Louis and Sugar Ray Robinson.
