Lake Nona, FL - McDIARMID, Capt.

Douglas E., passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Veterans Hospital in Lake Nona, Florida.

He was a police officer for the City of Central Falls, RI, a job he truly loved, for over 33 years, retiring with the rank of captain.

He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Theresa (Dufresne) McDiarmid.

He leaves his son Stephen Desjardins (Doris) of Orlando, FL, daughters Paula Dacier (Ken) of Sherman, TX, Denise Winston (Ted) of Wakefield, RI, and Dawn Marcou (Tom) of Kissimmee, FL.

Doug was predeceased by his brother Gordon, and parents William McDiarmid and Gladys Martin.

He and his brother were raised by their father in Hopewell, VA.

Identical twins, Douglas and Gordon had many interesting childhood experiences, including selling war bonds, and an exhibition boxing match with Joe Louis and Sugar Ray Robinson.

At 17, Doug and Gordon joined the Navy where they traveled the world together on the USS Heermann.

While stationed in Monaco, Doug was one of the US servicemen selected as an honor guard at the wedding of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III.

Doug also leaves his grandchildren Andrea Nadeau, Autumn Fortier, Stephen Desjardins, David Desjardins, MarkAaron Perry, Adam Perry, Shannon Ruff, Amanda Charest and Daniel Winston.

He leaves 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Services on Friday, June 3rd, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Mount St.

Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted with WILLIAM W.
